Once we've got what we need from you, we aim to have your SMAS application submitted within 2 to 3 working days, and it's often sooner. After that it's over to SMAS. On its website, SMAS says certification takes 1 to 7 days, and can be as little as 1 day for Worksafe and Worksafe Plus.
There are two parts. First, what you pay us: SMAS application help on its own is £395 to £1,095 +VAT, depending on your level and team size (see the instant quote for your exact price), or SafeGuard Pro is £1,895 +VAT a year with the software and a health and safety adviser on call. Second, SMAS's own membership fee, which you pay directly to SMAS. It isn't in our price, but if you're new to SMAS and join through us you get 30% off it in your first year.
Go with what your client asks for. Worksafe covers health and safety. Worksafe Plus adds the standard pre-qualification questions, plus environmental, quality, finance and company standing. If a main contractor asks for SMAS by name, as Taylor Wimpey does, yes. Some clients accept any SSIP scheme; others want SMAS specifically. Keep your CHAS if other clients ask for it. On the call we'll tell you which schemes your clients actually need.
An extra set of questions Taylor Wimpey adds to the SMAS assessment, linked to the Building Safety Act. Its guidance says contractors can't tender for its work without SMAS, including this module. We prepare the module answers with you as part of your application.
